Our mission
FWG PLUS covers South African and African football, including domestic leagues, national teams, CAF competitions, transfers and African footballers abroad. We aim to publish timely, useful and clearly sourced reporting for football supporters.
Accuracy and verification
We aim to verify significant claims using primary sources where possible, including official club, league, federation and competition announcements, match records and direct statements. We cross-check statistics, scores, dates, player identities and quotations before publication. When facts remain uncertain, we explain what is known and what is not.
Sources, rumours and attribution
We distinguish confirmed announcements from media reports, transfer rumours and social-media claims. We attribute information to its original source where practicable, link to supporting material when available and do not present an unverified claim as established fact. Anonymous sources, if used, require editorial scrutiny and must not be invented.
Corrections and updates
We welcome corrections from readers, clubs, players and other sources. When a material factual error is identified, we aim to correct it promptly and transparently; significant corrections should be noted in the relevant article. Developing stories may be updated as reliable information emerges, with changes made clear when necessary.
News, analysis and opinion
News reporting should distinguish verifiable facts from interpretation. Analysis, predictions, fan debates and opinion pieces should be recognisable as such. Headlines, thumbnails and social-media summaries should fairly represent the underlying reporting and avoid misleading claims.
Editorial independence and commercial content
Editorial decisions should be guided by newsworthiness, accuracy and reader interest rather than pressure from advertisers, sponsors, clubs or other parties. Any paid or sponsored material will be clearly identified. Advertising or commercial relationships should not be presented as independent reporting.
Images, video and intellectual property
We aim to use original work, properly licensed or authorised media and appropriate credits. A credit alone does not replace permission where permission is required. We seek to avoid misleading image alterations and to identify illustrative or digitally created visuals when their nature could confuse readers.
Fairness and responsible reporting
We aim to treat players, coaches, officials, clubs and supporters fairly, especially when reporting allegations or disputes. We distinguish allegations from findings, seek relevant responses where practicable and avoid publishing unnecessary private information or discriminatory abuse.
Use of AI-assisted tools
AI-assisted tools may support drafting, editing, research organisation or graphics, but their outputs should be reviewed before publication. We do not treat AI-generated claims, quotations or statistics as verified sources, and we aim to label synthetic imagery when it could be mistaken for a real event.
